Texas Hold 'em

Just what kind of hand is Darryl Issa holding?
We've seen what  has been dealt so far, so why is the White House now in the 'man the lifeboats' mode reported by the white House insider? According to the WHI, the White House is furiously re-arranging deck chairs. "Received in-house word regarding “scrambling” at the White House.   Something has them very spooked.  I hinted at this to you last week regarding the meeting that had staff coming out looking very concerned. The Grassley message had to have shook them up.  Told Issa has been repeating comparisons to Watergate to staff and fellow House members.  White House must be aware Issa and Co. might have something that could inflict a hell of a lot of damage."
The buzz is that Issa's office holds a card that could possibly bring down the Obama administration. The key word being 'possibly'. That all depends on the Republican members of both houses actually finding their balls.
Barack Hussein Obama has, by his grant of executive privilege, bound himself inextricably to the 'Fast and Furious' gunrunning debacle. He owns it now, however unintentionally.
Imagine this scenario: The Attorney General resigns under threat of prosecution, Barack Hussein Obama is impeached and found guilty of malfeasance of office. He resigns ala Nixon. Joe Biden becomes president.
Hillary Clinton is named the 2012 Democratic presidential candidate.

So when does 'enough' become 'too much'?
How do you define the causus belli? What will be the signal? When will the blood flow?
It's not a rhetorical question.
I have to ask because the feeling is almost palpable. If you have an ear to the ground, you've heard the rumblings. What will bring down the storm? Will it be a union thug like Hoffa? Will it be flash mobs of the entitlement tribe?
People are waking up and they're waking up angry.
People have seen their Republic hijacked, its citizens hung out to dry.
Bank frauds are rampant and seemingly untouchable, operating behind a wall of secrecy. Major corporations are forced into bankruptcy, nationalized, and sold to foreign nationals.
Warrant-less wiretaps are now commonplace. Unlawful search and seizure is the rule of the day. The National Security Agency is spying on our own citizens. The TSA mindlessly gropes children and the elderly.

When will we draw a line in the sand?
"This far and NO FARTHER!"

Inevitably, some son-of-a-bitch will cross that line. Some jackbooted bully who forgot his oath will test those of us who remember ours. It won't be pretty, it won't be a fair fight and it will do nothing but put the match to the touch hole.
You see, I have a vivid imagination, but I like to think its grounded in my own experience and intuition. I leaven that with lessons from history. I have some limited deductive reasoning and friends in low places. That being said, I can't tell the future, read tea leaves or channel former presidents. What I can see is a time of violent national strife; a political, financial and social upheaval many times worse than the late Northern War of Aggression*.
It doesn't take a psychic to see that.
It might take a psychic to see when.
*watch for my novel "Touched With Fire" coming to LULU press.

"Because we've always done it that way."

I hate that phrase. It's the worst possible excuse for making the same mistake over and over. I heard it a lot when I worked in the manufacturing industry. While trying to make the best of machinery, manpower, methods and material, I would hear that damnable phrase.
People are resistant to change. They don't like a hiccup in their routine. Its comforting and familiar, sort of like the litany at mass.
Now it shows up in the House of representative as a rebuff to junior representatives.
It's obstructionist to refuse to compromise. If you stand on you principles, you won't get anything done.
The go-along-to-get-along RINOs and Barack Hussein Obama can shoulder the blame for putting us where we are. The last thing we need is more mutual backscratching from the liberals and the weak sister Republicans. Why do the Republicans feel they must compromise and trade with the "fundamental reformation" of our once-proud nation?
I tell you there IS NO NEED to compromise. Putting our collective feet down is easy. Its even assisted by gravity, people! We showed our dissatisfaction with the House of representatives in 2010. It was as easy as voting. We didn't vote the establishment line. We didn't go along to get along. We played by our own rules.
There is no reason or excuse to continue to 'deal' with the progressives. Call us obstructionists, but call us long distance. The days of smoke-filled back room deals are over. True transparency will "fundamentally transform" some on capitol hill from from shady representatives to inmates at a federal prison. So be it. The push for true transparency means we can see right through the smoke and mirrors of legislative obfuscation and double-dealing. No more compromise. "Because we've always done it that way" is the worst possible excuse to keep doing something wrong.

Its attributed to Margaret Thatcher the following: "The trouble with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money." Apparently the Obama administration thinks it won't run out of our money. It keeps demanding more of it in the form of more and higher 'revenues'. When Obama told Joe the Plumber "We need to share the wealth" he apparently didn't realize the wealth he wants to spread around is limited by over-regulation and pervasive taxation on businesses just like Joe's. Joe won't be able to expand his business because his payroll is taxed to the point of a workforce reduction. Think I'm kidding? Ask the owner/operator of a mine in Georgia who gave up after over-reaching regulation and taxation forced him to abandon plans to open a mine that would have employed as many as 150 operators paying each as much as $150,000 per year. He said "I give up."
How does this administration expect to keep spending at current levels when its policies destroy the very source of those revenues? Its the revenue equivalent of  "The beatings will continue until morale improves". This 'sharing the wealth' will continue until there is no more wealth. The only thing to share then will be abject poverty just as in every socialist nation in history.
The answer is to hock every resource inside the borders of the United States to foreign investors. Those of you worried about the Yellow Menace won't have to face them on the battlefield. You need look no further than your local bank.

Nine Meals From Anarchy

Dear Mr. Florey,
I have heard from quite a few concerned seniors and veterans in the last few days.  The concern stems from the President's suggestion that Social Security and other benefits won't get paid in the absence of a deal to raise the debt ceiling.  This is a scare tactic, pure and simple.
Spending on Social Security, Medicare, veterans' benefits and our troops has already been authorized by Congress, and the President has the authority to continue funding these priorities.  If he chooses not to, it will be his decision and his alone
As Sheriff, I always had a contingency plan - hope for the best, but plan for the worst.  My hope is that the President won't play games with your Social Security check, but his current posturing doesn't inspire much confidence.  Instead of just throwing in the towel and hoping it all works out, Congressman Webster and I are taking action to make sure that seniors and our troops continue to get all that they have earned.
The legislation we introduced would not leave it up to chance.  It would force the President and Treasury Secretary to prioritize remaining revenues to ensure that the troops get paid, that Social Security, Medicare, and veterans' benefits continue to be paid, and that America continues to pay its debt.
There clearly won't be enough revenue coming in to pay for everything in the federal budget, but there will be enough to pay for these priorities.  To see how this would work, please visit my website at  If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to call.  You can reach me at 866-492-4835
Richard Nugent
Member of Congress

Dear Congressman Nugent,

Thank you for your timely message. I no longer live in your district but I appreciate your concern.
My concern is a very real one. We are, as it has been said, only nine meals away from anarchy. As a former law enforcement officer, you are well aware of what happens when individual needs are not met. There are people who will take the law into their own hands or ignore it altogether.
When, not 'if', this president withholds funding for entitlements, people who never so much as dreamed of breaking the law will be more than willing to do whatever it takes to feed their families.
Worse than that, the entire U.S. economy will collapse under the accelerated inflation and abrupt halt of cash flow.
In short, we are nine meals from anarchy. While some of us have made preparations, we are in the minority. I fear there will be a national emergency of epic proportions, unimaginable in its scope and magnitude.
This president has clearly demonstrated his willingness to ignore both the house and the senate. I don't believe any legislative efforts will deter him from his destructive policies. I fear for this country, for the United States as we knew it.
I thank you for your continuing efforts to save it.

At your service,

Michael R Florey

Cynicism Has Replaced Ennui as the National Mood.

While presumably born on this Earth, (if not certain just where on the planet), Barack Hussein Obama is at such a disconnect from the citizens of the U.S. that it appears he is in an orbit entirely his own. This is a paradox. Being in his own orbit, he can't be here. Yet he regularly shows up on golf courses and vacation spots on this continent. He can apparently bi-locate and assume the shape of a human being.

I point out the disconnect so severe that it defies belief. When approached by Governor Jindal (about the loss of jobs) concerning a drilling moratorium, The Won countered "Governor, they can all apply for unemployment."

This president hardly deserves the title. He's convinced he is the light of the world when in fact he's a Zippo lighter with no flint. His faltering, fumbling, halting, weak, incompetent, corrupt, callous, tone-deaf administration has driven public confidence in elected officials to a new low. Cynicism has replaced ennui as the national mood. Irony has become the norm and the gallows humor writes itself.

This administration has become it's own bumper sticker.

The crashing, cosmic stupidity of this administration had some of us thinking it was the result of a concerted deliberate effort to undermine the economy, the sovereignty and the foreign policy of this once-great nation. Now I'm convinced its just plain incompetence. A total lack of any experience outside of community organizing translates to an administration that leaves us shaking our heads and counting the days to November.

I'm counting the days to January 20th, 2013.

Proud People

The president of the United States wants you to be proud of him. He will tell you so in no uncertain terms. In a recent address supposedly to praise the CIA, he used the pronoun “I” thirty-five times.
Yes, it is a matter of pride.
What this author is referring to is pride in you, pride in his fellow citizens. You have been tolerant throughout this, the most cavalierly corrupt and blatantly dishonest administration in the history of our country. You have been stoic through the worst economic times since the Great Depression. You have shown grace and tolerance far beyond the limits of any other nation. Our citizens have met adversity with resilience, loss with charity, and suffering with humor characteristic of our proud nation. You are the most inventive, industrious people on the planet. You are a nation of firm handshakes and solid eye contact. You give without a thought of repayment. You respond to emergencies without a thought for your own safety. You respect the rights and property of others. You stand for our anthem and cherish our flag.
You do yourselves proud, and unlike some people, you’ve been proud of your country all your life.
